Music, reading, movie/TV and technology, these themes are frequently emerging from human life because of popular culture. TV

Mostly, I like to watch American TV serial, such as Grey’s Anatomy, Kyle XY, Bones, Desperate Housewives, and so on. In contrast, the American TV shows seem not desirable to me at all. Therefore, I don’t know anyone of American Idols or Top Models. Consciously, I cannot deny those TV shows represent a great variety of popular culture which is music, fashion, mainstream. Nonetheless, these popular cultures are growing too fast to catch up. For instance, when I finally recognize a face and name who is from American Idols, the face just disappears in the next day. There are other TV shows like talk shows. According to my personal experience, most talk shows play after 11:00 pm. I had watched some talk shows, but just a few times. These talk shows always interview some extremely popular people, and talk about their lives and successes. In the meanwhile, it also indicates different kinds of cultural information, which are special or popular topics. For example, discussing how a man can be pregnant. Since I am not familiar with TV shows, all I know that about TV shows just the above. From the cultural point of view, popular culture exists anywhere anytime.

TECHNOLOGY

Normally, no matter where people live and what people do, people are influenced by some technology more or less. The developing of technology differs in generations but no in kinds, because technology is mainly related to social demands. For example, people perhaps need take trains to go to somewhere like Chicago downtown because the parking fee is too expensive. Namely, that is to say, it is not hard to derive what people need from technology. It seems there are many scientists are keep creating some technologies which gratify society, such as Internet. As a user of technology, I suppose to appreciate scientists. However, I am not identifying some views of scientists sometimes. Technology partly represents the social indolence, and partly represses people natural activity. For that reason, I have been speculating about whether the situation will lead to decadence of most people’s brain. Most people can get different information from the internet. Thereby, they may unwilling to go to outside and check what happen. No surprise, I am definitely one of lazy people. Even though I am frantic with worry about that I am getting lazier and lazier. Unconsciously, I know there is no exception for the socialization of technology, and I need technology to keep living.

MOVIE

Movie review: crash
I have long been fascinated with the movie, Crash because of the profound beginning, “I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something.” Suddenly, I could not stop asking myself, do I still have faith in the society which I live in? Do I have any courage to touch the people who around me? I have no any certain answer for those questions until I watched. Without any doubt, it is very difficult for the white people to abandon the discrimination for parity. Crash has brought home to the audiences the differences and similarity of each society. Societies are made of various groups, and the most importantly, the societies have risen within specific culture. The subject of cultural discrimination is timeless and ageless. Therefore, the people need to crash into and touch the lives as long as they can. After watched Crash, I understand that we should responsible for our own behaviors, and there is something called tough within my heart. Crash is a veritable The Academy Award’s best movie. It is worthy of seeing the movie.

First of all, it definitely is a fancy movie review even it is not very long. The reader not only can get the main idea but also the certain detail about Twilight from this movie review. For that reason, it successfully reveal Twilight’s outline to the reader. Furthermore, this movie review introduces Twilight’s creation of background. Actually, Twilight also is one of Stephenie Meyers’s vampire romance novels. Since it extremely popular as a book, it had made as a movie. Finally, I realize there is no a formal form to tell people how to write a movie review. Therefore, writing a movie review, it just need to express some personal feeling about movies.

MUSIC

Music is a cup of Latte, which wakes me up as I am dazed. Most importantly, music is a cultural mixture which contains large number of words of different language. When we got attracted by different kinds of music, we can also observed different culture at the same time. I like music that I can make connections with, such as the Folk music. Folk music has always been past down from generation to generation. In my country, there is countless number of songs under Folk music, and I understand the meaning and feeling behind most of them. When I came to Chicago, I found myself in love with Country music. Even though I cannot understand the meaning of the song sometimes, but I still enjoy listening to them. I feel the love and sadness from the melody. I am not that kind of people who knows how to appreciate fine art. From the definition of music, it is just one of the parts in fine arts. However, music is so special because it requires our ears to listen to it, and also our hearts to feel it.

READING

Reading: Barrier Between Adults and Children’s Entertainment
There is no need to distinguish what kind the movies for adults from children since most movies are made for all ages, such as Harry Potter. The famine of innocent childhood widely exists in the adults’ world, and most adults snatch at every chance to go back childhood, like watching cartoons. Somehow, the cartoon which performing now is not real cartoon. What is more important is that more and more children hunger for unapproachable scope drove the children to watch the inappropriate adult movies. For example, the movies that I had watched when I was under age always relate to sex and violence, such as Tristan and Isolde, Brokeback Mountain. The reason why I watched these movies was not only because of the popularity, but also because of getting the information which I cannot get from my parents or teachers. China, the place that brought me up was too traditional to talk about sex. Even in the biology class, the teachers just asked the student watch the films and walked away. Therefore, there is no line between adults and children when we need something from each other’s world.

POP CULTURE

First of all, there are so many new cultures are surrounding us. In most cases, we should never judge a person by external appearances, but we might be able to evaluate a person through what kind the music he/she listens, because music is one of the cultures that always convey different spirits. Furthermore, music is not like mathematics or physics; music has ever had a perpetual formula since it is a Pop culture, it has been changed all the time. According my experiments of song project, to comprehend all kinds of music styles is very significant because I have known more about pop culture. As what I learn from my classmate’s presentation is pop music has a time limitation, it constantly belongs a specific time. Honestly, it is hard to accept completely and comprehend correctly all kinds of music and culture. Form the point of view of me, sometimes, we need to tolerate something, of which is we cannot accept in a short time. At least, we have been tried our best to learn the culture that we don’t know so well. That’s why I take this class, pop culture.
According my personal experiences, pop culture has divided into several parts. I have been realized I must coordinate my ethnocentrism with the pop culture of the United State since I came here. As I what I learn is the United State is a melting pot and salad bowl. These two aforementioned terms have convinced me of the essentiality of understanding other countries’ cultures, especially pop culture. I prefer to study the positive American pop culture, such as individual confidence and independence. I had done my utmost to put my Chinese ideas away and accepted the American culture. When I was in China, I couldn’t stop relying on my family or friends because this was Chinese popular culture. However, it seems utterly unnecessary to rely on anyone in the US. The American society looks so independent. For example, many of my American friends do not like anyone to help them. They are committed to doing their own job, and certainly confident of their ability anytime. It is everything spontaneously rises from surrounding which is called popular culture. I have believed that I am capable of assimilate with American popular culture some day.
